Before I saw this movie, I thought this movie is a kind of simple sad story.
But actually it isn't.This movie tells us the old missing life style, lives with the nature. The people live in the village, live with the nature.
The climates of narayama is very severe, but they managed to survive.
"Dead" is not "The end" for the people. Bring old father and mother to the mountain is just for their custom, knowledge of living in the severe winter season.
This is not like simple speedy Hollywood movie, but has a lot of contents to think about. I recommend this to whom want to know the old human life style and thought.

Dramatic great movie is always from 50's and 60's. So, I'm displeased.
Are we lost the ablitities to watch and understand this kinds of of great deep work?

Nowadays, we merely can create movie with profound knowledge and thought. Of couse, commercial success can not be wished by this kind of movie. However, I think movie orght to be literary work too, not just to be simple commercial product.

After I saw this movie, I know this movie won the CANNES Grand Prix.
Great movie...
You can not miss it.
