To those who born in a developed country:
（先進国に生まれ育った人たちへ）

  Needles to say, we are fortunate. Most of us (reader of this blog, you) born in such a well-developed economy and are the recipients of the tangible and intangible benefits associated with the unjustifiable advantages. Please be reminded the fact that the benefits are awarded to the citizen of your nation, in most cases, without any significant conditions. You are a fortunate who can get such unjustifiable advantages.
 ( いうまでもなく、我々は幸福だ。我々（このブログの読者の皆様）のほとんどは先進国に生まれ育ち、様々な形でおそらく正当化出来かねる様々な利益を得てきたのである。その利益は、おそらく大した条件もなく貴方が貴方の国の国民であるという事だけで与えられた物だということを忘れないでほしい。貴方はこんなにも正当化出来かねる利益を得ることができる幸運な人間なのだ。)
　 
 There are many people who work under severe conditions. You may find typical example is the workers in construction sector in Dubai and other Middle Eastern countries.  Their compensation is like nothing. They work hard, and get like less than USD 200 per month. They are usually under seven-year contract, and typically have to work without fees for the first roughly two years as the two-year compensation has already paid to the agent who introduced the worker and to the member of his family who “agreed” to sign the contract. In some cases, they took out a high-interest loan to finance certain amount of money to come to the country, that makes situation worse. Further, after seven-year, they “must” go out from the country without any tangible skills, by which they can get better job in the market. Their future is not that bright.
(世界には、本当に厳しい条件下で生きている人々がたくさんいる。中東、特にドバイで働く建築業界の労働者は典型的な例だ。彼らの給与はほとんど無に等しい。彼らは真面目に働き、月に２００ドルも稼ぐことができない。彼らは大体の場合７年契約でつれてこられ、多くの場合最初の二年程度はその給料すらもらえない。人材派遣会社と彼らを派遣する事に「同意」した家族に契約金が既に払われているからだ。さらに、場合によってはここに来るために高い金利でローンを契約していて、それの支払いに苦しむような哀しいケースもあるという。そして、彼らは７年その国で働こうが、その後は帰国するしか道はない。別に大したスキルが付く訳ではないので、恐らく次の職は難しいだろう。彼らの将来は全く明るくない)

 

  They are living in a “labour camp” with “sufficient living condition” defined by their employee. They live in a room, which usually shared by like 8-12 people. I guess the fact that they have to share a room with so many others indicate the detail of the condition.  So, I would not provide you the detail. Moreover, it is really difficult for them to go out and enjoy Friday night, as the prices in the country are so expensive that they cannot even pay taxi bill. They cannot even read the contract, but are there to make their family live. They cannot go back as the company keeps their passport to make sure they will not escape. On the weekend, they can do nothing but watching TV or to go out and looking at the gulf. One day, I was sitting next to them. I could remember they were not talking to each other, but just silently looked at the gulf for several minutes, walked around the coastline, then eventually backed.
(彼らは労働キャンプと呼ばれる「充分な住環境」を備えた施設に暮らしている。彼らは大体８人から１２人程度で一つの部屋を共有している。もはやそれ自体が彼らがどのような環境で住んでいるかを表している。特に詳細を語る必要は無いだろう。さらに、彼らにとって外出する事はかなり難しい状況になっている。あの国の価格水準はあまりにも高すぎて彼らは恐らく移動手段にすらお金を払うことができないはずだ。彼らは契約書なんて読めなかったのだろうが、家族のためにこんなところに来ている。彼らのパスポートは会社に管理されているので彼らは逃げ出すことは出来ない。週末になっても、テレビを見るか海岸沿いに散歩するくらいしかする事は無い。私はある日彼らの横に座っていたが、彼らはまったくお互いに会話する事も無く、しずかにうみを眺め、そして海岸沿いを歩きかえっていったのを覚えている。)




  Every day, they will be asked to walk to the assembly point to ride a old school bus that came from the 70s in the U.S., and are taken to the place they work. At the place, usally a construction site, supervisors who are coming from wealthy nations are waiting for the pure labours, which are totally not differentiated, trained, valued, and, therefore, treated like nothing. I cannot think of the life they enjoy. I cannot imagne that in the different side of the road, all kind of luxury cars such as Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, and Ferrari, are on a usual way to the totally different kind of places.
（毎日、彼らは集合場所まで歩き、そして70年代のアメリカから来た古いスクールバスに乗って建築現場まで運ばれる。そしてそこでは、豊かな国々から来た現場監督がその差別化されていない、訓練されていない、評価されていない、そして無造作に扱われている純粋な労働力を待っているのである。私には彼らの生活を想像する事は出来ない。その対岸では、思いつく限りの高級車がまったく異なるたぐいの場所に今日も向かっているのである。）



 Do you know what? Large portion of the citizen of oil rich countries should be able to get great job without difficulty. Their compensation is like crazy. You can buy Mercedes from the year one. You don’t need to work hard as many people coming from other developed nations with very high compensation and tangible experiences can work for you. You can just relax and can wait for the report in some cases. Now, the country is facing difficulty to convince children to study hard and go to good university, as it is so easy to get job if you are the citizen of the nation and have connection.
(反面、産油国の国民の大部分は簡単に良い仕事を見つけることができる。彼らの給料は天文学的で、初任給でメルセデスを買えてもおかしくない。別の途上国から高い給料で連れてきた優秀な人材が彼らのために働いているので、別に精を出して働かなくても良い。リラックスして、別の人が働くのを見て、報告を待つだけで良いようなケースすらある。これらの国は今子供たちに頑張って勉強してよい大学に入る事を説得する事すら難しくなっているのが現状だ。なぜなら、国民であるという事だけで、コネクションがあるという事だけで、簡単に良い仕事が見つかる状況だからである。)

We are so fortunate in such a difficult world. We, Japanese, are the top 10 percent of the world. Maybe we cannot keep our position as the world’s second largest economy as others are approaching. You should imagine if the GDP per capita of China reach to one-tenth of that of Japan, China would outstrip Japan and become the second of the world. I really don’t think that is difficult. However, why don’t you think about how much we could earn within an hour at some super-market? Do you think the difference is reasonable? Do you think we can justify the difference? What do you think that means? Don’t you feel you are a fortunate?
(この難しい世界に置いて、我々はあまりにも幸福だといえる。日本人は世界の上位１０％にはいる。おそらく競争が激しいので、世界第二位の経済大国という地位を保つ事は出来ないだろう。中国人の一人当たりGDPが日本の１０分の１になれば、日本は中国に追い越される。それが難しい事だとは私は思わない。しかし、我々が１時間スーパーで働けばいくらもらえるか考えてみてほしい。この差は理解出来るものなのだろうか？この差を正当化出来るのだろうか？これが何を意味するのだろうか？自分は幸せであると感じないだろうか？)
