I don't have many words to describe the potential of user generated contents, but I would like to show you a movie posted by a private piano player on a famous video sharing site, NikoNiko douga.
Niko Niko Douga is really a uniqe place where Japanese otaku people, managa lovers, NEETs, Ojisan, students, and other people who has no other thing to do gather and share the contents usually created by individuals. Youtube is also a great place, and you might find great works as well; But, this NikoNiko douga website is really uniqe as the creater can directly feel the exicitment of the audience, by its uniqe function to display the comments from viewers on its screen.
Today, I don't have many word to say. Many of you know or feel the potential of the contents generated by private players, but this piano work I gonna share with you is special as this is co-generated by several different private users, and the quality is great.
This song is originaly from a game soft, which is produced by a person (ZUN), and was sold in the private trading places like manga trading shows. He created about 20 game songs for his game soft(s?). Then, a great piano player (D neco) found the songs, and arranged into a 17-minutes piano piece, using all the 88 keys on piano.
So, please first listen the song. (The subtitles on the screen is the comments from the viewers, you may want to turn the function off by pressing a botten in under-right side)
Interesting movement continues. After D neco published his play on the website, some other guy created the score of the piece, and published it on the website without the help of the original player D neco nor creater, Zun.
Further, as the score was not perfect, many people started to comment on the points to be improved on the movie, in order to make the score perfect.

The song itself is really great. And, the play is also funtastic. In addtion, the listeners are also facinated and contributing the piece WITHOUT ANY INCOME.
17 minutes is really long, but I did not feel the 17 minute with this song is long. Unfortunate that I can not compensate their great effort. I am just surprized by the quality and the potential of user generated content.
